What do Anne Rice, Wicked Faire, and The Voice have in common?

So, October to December 2012 has flown right by and it’s a new year. I’ve already given the people on my mailing list a recap of those months, so now on to what’s in store for this year. I don’t have too many plans made because you never know how things will actually turn out. But, I’m planning on releasing a new record this year. The end of this year will mark two years since the release of “Pocketful of X-Rays,” so in keeping on some sort of schedule, the next release should be the end of this year.
The frustrating thing is, I haven’t written a song since Feb of 2010, when I wrote “X-Ray Eyes,” so all the songs will have to be written within a few months. Then of course, there isn’t much time to play them out and test them because the music industry runs backwards these days. You have to have a quality CD for anyone to let you play, but you only get a quality CD by playing the songs you plan to record out on tour. Vicious Circle of Suckitude…
I am slated to play the Anne Rice Vampire Lestat Fan Club annual ball this year, which is around Halloween. I am very excited about this because there’s a rumor going around that Anne Rice herself will be attending! I love going to New Orleans and will try once again to get more gigs while I am there or on the way there.
This February, I am scheduled to play Wicked Faire in New Jersey. It is best described as an explosion of ecclectic and exciting entertainment, and I think that’s pretty accurate
The theme this year is “Revenge of the Renaissance Faire.” I really like this event and feel very comfortable playing there. I’ve made a few friends there, so I hope I can make it a regular thing
If you are in the New Jersey area or don’t mind traveling and like big entertainment events, please do attend, you’ll have a blast!
And finally, I wasn’t sure if I should make this known or not, but at the end of this week, I’m going to try and get cast in the television show, “The Voice.” Notice I didn’t say “audition.” The reason is, yes you audition at the call, but it is a TV show and I’m sure they are looking for interesting “characters” to put on the show. Hence, there are more factors than just how well you sing in getting picked. I didn’t want to make a huge deal out of me trying out and disappoint people if I didn’t get picked. But, my career doesn’t depend on it, so I figured, “why not?” Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m gonna go print my audition pass and get ready
